Help build a Texas that works for everyone.
Gene's path to victory runs through turnout — mobilizing the working-class, majority-minority district that's counting on him. Your support keeps his record and his message in front of the voters who decide this race. Here's what it powers.

Houston's most powerful Democrat — and he uses it for us.
As Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, Gene is one of the highest-ranking Democrats in Texas. He led the fight against partisan gerrymandering in 2025 — the firewall against efforts to rig the maps — and turns that leadership into resources, relationships, and leverage for Southwest Houston.
- 01August 2025
Led the walkout.
When Democrats needed someone to break quorum and stop a redistricting power grab, Gene led the caucus out of the chamber — and out of the state — to protect voters from being erased.
- 02Fall 2025
Held the line.
When the legal attacks came — personal, aimed at removing him from office, designed to break the resistance — he didn't flinch. He kept showing up. He kept fighting.
- 03May 2026
Won the fight.
The case was decided. The Constitution held. The seat stays. Now the work of representing District 137 — and of being a national voice against bullies — continues.
Every dollar has a job.

I grew up in Sharpstown. I went to the prosecutor's office. I won this seat in 2012 and got to work — for renters, for working families, for young Texans, and for a democracy where votes actually count.
That's the Texas we're fighting for: one that works for everyone. But the work doesn't pay for itself — and the next stand is only possible because of the people who show up before it starts.
That's the ask. Chip in early. The work continues.
