Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This policy explains what information the Gene for Texas Campaign(“we,” “us”) collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site or submitting a form, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up for updates, RSVP to an event, or volunteer, we collect what you provide — typically your name, email address, and optionally your mobile number, ZIP code, and any message or interests you share.
Donations.Contributions are processed by ActBlue, not by this site. We never see or store your full payment-card number. ActBlue’s own privacy policy governs the donation page. As required by Texas law, certain contributor information (such as name, ZIP, employer, and occupation for contributions over the reporting threshold) becomes part of public campaign-finance records filed with the Texas Ethics Commission.
Information collected automatically. Like most sites, our host may log basic technical data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall traffic.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- send you campaign updates, event invitations, and fundraising appeals;
- organize volunteers and follow up about ways to help;
- respond to your messages; and
- comply with election law, including campaign-finance reporting.
Text messages
If you opt in by providing your mobile number and checking the consent box, you agree to receive recurring automated campaign text messages from the Gene for Texas Campaign at the number provided — updates, events, and fundraising. Consent is not a condition of donating or volunteering. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for help.
We do not sell or share your mobile number or your SMS consent with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing. Your number is used only to send the campaign messages you opted into, and is shared only with the messaging provider that delivers them for us.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the campaign — for example, our email provider, our text-messaging provider, our donation processor (ActBlue), and our website host — and only so they can perform services for us. We may also disclose information when required by law, including campaign-finance reporting to the Texas Ethics Commission.
Your choices
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving messages.
- To review, update, or delete the information we hold about you, email gene@genefortexas.com.
Data retention & security
We keep your information for as long as needed to run the campaign and meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable safeguards to protect it, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
