As the special session opened, House Democrats vowed to make the GOP’s redistricting push “as painful and protracted” as possible — threatening to drag out hearings, filibuster, and, if needed, break quorum. Wu said they had to try “whether we win or lose, no matter what happens.”
Democrats also pressed Abbott to prioritize relief for the deadly Central Texas floods over redistricting, calling the combined agenda a “ruse” to get them to show up at the Capitol.
